brunch at firefly + a lobster scramble

I am such a fan of brunch. Any day, anywhere. I love a good avocado toast, a mimosa, and lingering over the best meal with a few girlfriends. That is the beauty of food to me really, that it creates an experience and space to exist with one another. To linger. To actually take time to ask questions, be present and enter into one another’s lives. Brunch in my mind, is the perfect setting for just that. The beautiful Firefly (which happens to be this mysterious almost secret-like) entrance in Studio City recently started doing a brunch that has a reputation of being delightful, so I knew I had to pop in for a visit.

First of all- The setting. Entering into Firefly is so dreamy! There is the darling library bar, which is filled with mahogany wood and a beautiful wall flooded with books. We went to brunch out on the back patio, which also boasts of beauty. It’s almost wood-like and backs up to an abundance of trees and greenery.

Secondly, the seasonally inspired menu is so darn good. Avocado toast with chili, a LOBSTER SCRAMBLE!!? that was so amazing, and the salmon… All delicious, beautifully presented and so fun. Plus, right when you sit down for brunch, chef brings out a mini smoothie shooter and pastries on the house.

Also, because I’m such a sucker for burgers, I had to try the Wagyu burger with bacon onion marmalade, forme d’ambert and hand-cut Kennebec fries- which was fantastic.

Chef Perry Pollaci, who joined Firefly in November has done a phenomenal job at curating a menu that is both fully savory and deliciously sweet. Your guaranteed to walk out feeling full, creatively inspired, and hopefully, depending on your company, a little more seen and known. If you’re a bruncher in LA, or you’re just looking for that perfect spot in Studio City to linger on a Sunday, this is a must try.
