I am such a fan of brunch. Any day, anywhere. I love a good avocado toast, a mimosa, and lingering over the best meal with a few girlfriends. That is the beauty of food to me really, that it creates an experience and space to exist with one another. To linger. To actually take time to ask questions, be present and enter into one another’s lives. Brunch in my mind, is the perfect setting for just that. The beautiful Firefly (which happens to be this mysterious almost secret-like) entrance in Studio City recently started doing a brunch that has a reputation of being delightful, so I knew I had to pop in for a visit.

It’s crazy that January is already coming to a close! This month has been full of transition and chaos- we’ve experienced quite a bit of division and hurt in our country this season, and with tensions high, we could all use a little extra dose of compassion and love. This month, I’ve been focusing on renewal. The word itself means “to make like new: restore to freshness, vigor, or perfection.” I love the concept of restoring something and making it like new, and feel like there a lot of ways this definition can be applied and executed in one’s life. So- all that said, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite beauty products that are renewal-oriented and are sure to start off your days with refreshment and intentionality. Because it begins with the small things.

Happy New Year friends! I could not be more excited about 2017- there seems to be so much anticipation around the beginning of a year. It’s a time to reevaluate what you hope for, what you are working towards, and set intentions that can narrate the rest of your year. I love choosing a word each year to give voice to what I’m hoping to set in motion. This year, I chose the word commit, with the intention to commit to presence, to the people around me, and to the things I’m working towards. In this season of focus, I also love to take on mindful practices towards health and wellness, committing to a life of healthy indulgence and balance. Enter one of my favorites- avocado toast.

fritzi’s downtown brunch magic

It’s no secret that I love a good brunch. Eggs and bacon and all the things that accompany a good breakkie tend to be my love language. One of my downtown favorites for lunch is a darling little spot called Fritzi, headed up by Chef Neal Fraser. Boasting the best rotisserie chicken and the most incredible condiments around, this spot has become a go-to for me over the past few months. So when I heard they started doing weekend brunch- I got giddy. And boy, it did not disappoint.

When my friend Caroline called with a recipe for homemade ricotta gnocchi, asking if I’d like to whip them up with her, the answer was an obvious absolutely. Before I knew it, she was at my doorstep with ingredients in hand.
