smoked salmon bites

I love having guests over for impromptu gatherings. My loft has an open door policy and nothing makes me happier than welcoming friends in for any type of meal at any time of day. That being said, having guests over frequently means needing an arsenal of picky bits to serve up simply and quickly, for when that unexpected friend stops by.

Snacks that are easy to prepare and easy to eat are key, so nothing gets too fussy and takes away from time spent with my guest. These smoked salmon bites fit the bill perfectly. They’re delicious, simple to throw together, and are customizable to any of my guests’ preferences.

These smoked salmon bites also use ingredients that I tend to always have on hand, which I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older is so crucial if you love hosting, like me. Ingredients like oils, sauces, spreads, onions, nuts, capers, fresh herbs, good quality chocolate, fresh bread, and obviously wine, spirits, and mixers, all make whipping up dinner or snacks for friends on the fly, that much easier.

Stock your kitchen with some of your favorite staples, so next time a friend drops in (planned or unplanned), you’ll have some bites to serve them, including these smoked salmon picky bits!

Smoked Salmon Bites

About 20¬†crackers (or however many it takes to serve your guests)- I used rice crackers from Trader Joe’s!
2-4 oz smoked salmon
1/4 red onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup capers
1/2 cup spinach dip
A handful of basil, finely chopped
Sea Salt

These little bites are the dream, because you can create any flavor combo you like. I also love adding pomegranate seeds, or fresh dill for extra flavor.

To assemble, place a dollop of spinach dip on each cracker. (These are easiest if you do them assembly line style as opposed to one at a time!). Then top with a tiny piece of salmon, a couple bits of red onion, a couple capers and some chopped basil and a sprinkling of sea salt.
