halloween cocktail roundup

October 28, 2016

It’s that time of year friends, for spooks and costumes and endless sugar rushes. Halloween is a fun holiday; in my mind, it ushers in the rest of fall, and brings us closer to slow times with family and the people we love. Plus, how fun is it to get dressed up once a year and bring out that childlike nature in all of us?! This Halloween, I’ve rounded up 4 of my favorite spooktastic cocktails. These adult libations are a great fit for any Halloween party, and add to the playful fun of October’s ending celebration.

whisk and whittle

October 4, 2016

Awhile back, I had the pleasure of hosting a Women & Whiskies evening at my loft. Our night revolved around the beautiful and seasonal flowers of early summer and included flowery whiskey cocktails {of course}, a delicious dinner spread, and cake. Oh guys, these cakes. To feast your eyes and stomach on these creations is pure heaven, all thanks to one fabulous gal.

the darling retreat

September 30, 2016

I love retreats- they’re a time to get away from your normal pace of life, recalibrate in a new environment, and take on a different world for just a bit. Darling Magazine has hosted a few creative retreats, and I’ve loved being able to help curate the experience by cooking for the women who attend. It’s amazing how much food has the power to effect the experience of a weekend away. When you’re eating well, nourishing your body with beautiful things, and giving it the nutrients it needs, everything else seems to be so much more in alignment. The last weekend retreat Darling hosted was in Ojai, California, and was centered around photography. It was absolutely restful, stunning, and so much more.

dinner with tequila herradura at STK

September 15, 2016

Can we talk about my love of succulents and copper?? They’re two things I absolutely go nuts over when it comes to decor. When Herradura Tequila asked Caroline from Love & Loathing LA and I to co-host a dinner, we were immediately on the same page about decor. We’re both nerds for creating the perfect dinner aesthetic, and we spent the morning perusing the Downtown Los Angeles flower mart for delicious succulents and copper vases. Sadly, we didn’t find the kind of copper we were looking for, so we took matters into our own hands- and got crafty with spray paint. That is one of my favorite things whenever I’m designing a dinner party: I love dreaming up a vision, and then adding in elements of spontaneity whenever my original vision isn’t readily available.

a women & whiskies + kore kitchen brunch…the sustainable kind

August 26, 2016

There is nothing I love more than bringing some of my favorite women together around a table. A few weeks back, I got to do so with some of LA’s finest mindful and entrepreneurial women. With events in full effect during the summer, I wanted to do something a little off the cuff and unique… So I grabbed my darling friend Meryl from Kore Kitchen (you can see some of her goodness here!) to chef a sustainable backyard brunch complete with morning cocktails with yes, with my favorite libation: whiskey!

a brunch with Thrive & Soul Cycle

July 25, 2016

It’s a pretty obvious thing that I love brunching. A bit back, I got to host such a fun event; it was a Soul-Cycle ride followed by a Thrive brunch. I’ve posted about Thrive a couple of times, mostly because I’m ridiculously obsessed with their algae oil. It’s this perfectly neutral oil derived from algae, and its smoke point is so high that it makes everything delightfully crispy. You can see it here. SO, all that said, when Thrive told me they created an algae protein powder, I was pumped to try it, and use it in a bunch of yummy brunch recipe goodness.

Bigger Bits Food On My Table The Table

the perfect summer salad

May 13, 2016

About a week ago, two of my favorite LA women came over to play and style some fun dishes at the loft. I am such a fan of having people in my space- maybe it’s the hostess in me, but I actually feel more known when I have the opportunity to welcome friends in and spend afternoons lingering over good food. The darling Jen from The Effortless Chic and Amanda Gallant came over after a chaotic week, and we spent a few hours playing with ingredients, recipe dreaming, and practicing the art of slowing down and just hanging out together. This salad is a go-to for me every summer. With fresh corn and the bite of the red onion, it’s an easy and delicious way to get that fix of summer flavor.
