women & whiskies nashville

You guys. I’m not sure how to even express how much fun I had throwing a Women & Whiskies party in Nashville recently. It started with a fun dreamer conversation with my darling soul-friend Ruthie Lindsey. We met in Nashville a little over a year ago and became instant friends. Since then, we’ve been trying to throw some form of dinner/whiskey party, and when Women & Whiskies said they were up for Nashville, we were ecstatic. First of all, Nashville is the perfect whiskey town. Secondly, there is something so magical about bringing amazing and talented women together to celebrate friendship and intentionality, all over really great drinks.

We teamed up with Urban Cowboy, which happens to be one of the most epic spaces I’ve seen in Nashville. It’s a darling bed and breakfast with impeccable design and such aesthetic appeal. They’ve created a space with one fundamental intention- “have a good time”, and we did just that. With three fantastic whiskey cocktails and the loveliest of women, we spent the evening cocktailing, conversing, and even doing a bit of singing. We were serenaded by the lovely Amy Stroup, who got us to join in on her final song.

I created a simple menu of bites, cheese platters, and little nibbles. Then, The Peach Truck (they drive peaches up from Georgia EVERY day!) gifted us with two massive boxes of peaches, so I of course had to make peach shortcake and peach salsa. With the generosity of Whites Mercantile, we were able to send every guest home with some local Nashville goodies, including my favorite Bourbon Brittle!

The night was made monumentally more beautiful by the girls over at 12th table who have such an eye for design. They outfitted our night with tables, amazing cocktail glasses, fantastic gold flatware, and beautiful beverage dispensers to house our cocktails.

Florals were magical for this event. The Farmers Florist went to town in creating the perfect arrangements for the night. And of course, Kelsey Cherry captured the evening in all it’s beauty. Her photography is magical, and she made everyone feel so comfortable while capturing all the best moments.

My dear friend Orion Pahl came and sported himself as the solo male, capturing the evening in perfect detail. His video is above, and I love how he always reveals the most intimate of moments and creates videos that really portray the essence of any event.

I’m leaving you guys with two of my favorite recipes from the event! Perfect for any kind of party this summer!

Homemade Peach Salsa:

6 large fresh peaches, pits removed and chopped finely
1 red onion, diced very finely
1 large handful of cilantro, chopped finely
2 medium size tomatoes, chopped
2 ears of corn, dehusked
Juice of two limes
1 tsp sea salt
1 garlic clove, chopped very finely

In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Stir gently, until well combined. Serve with your favorite chips! If you want to add some spice, throw in one finely chopped jalapeño!

Strawberry Basil Smash:

2 parts Russels Reserve
2 medium strawberries
.5 parts maple syrup
6 fresh basil leaves
1 part fresh lemon juice
Basil for garnish

Combine strawberries, maple syrup and basil leaves in a pint glass, muddle gently to release juice from berries and oils from basil. Add bourbon, lemon juice and ice, and shake hard for 10 seconds. Double strain in a rocks glass with ice. Garnish with the extra basil!

Sounds wonderful! Nashville is a fun town. We just bought two cases of peaches from their truck delivery in Carmel, IN from their Freestone Tour. So many delicious peaches, and I’m excited to have your salsa recipe!
