Intuitive Fasting and Why It’s Dangerous.

This week, a book called Intuitive Fasting was released and endorsed by a well-known celebrity.

My journey of learning how to eat intuitively was just that… a journey. In my mind, during eating disorders awareness week, releasing a book that basically encourages not eating, but call it intuitive is highly destructive and tone deaf.

Most women have grown up with messaging about restriction. Most women have at some point in their life been cultured to think that they need to lose weight. Diet culture is perhaps the most destructive and addictive thing in our culture and it’s absolutely keeping us obese. What we really need is doctors who teach us how to listen to our bodies, trust them, and eat intuitively, not “fast” or restrict intuitively.

I shared some more thoughts here.

Let me know what you think! I’d love to hear from you. And if you are looking for a space to reconnect to your body and do some of that intuitive healing work, check out Embody Circles. It’s an amazing and safe group of women here to see you win.
